Meet the UMSL Marketing Advisory Board
Consumers are changing the way they communicate with and research brands, and brands are changing the way they promote & engage with consumers. We are embracing these digital & social technologies to communicate in ways that were inconceivable just a few short years ago. We are shifting our attention from traditional media marketing to internet, wireless devices, and other digital platforms. The world of marketing as we know it is being disrupted at lightning speed due to these new technologies.
To ensure the marketing curriculum at the University of Missouri–St. Louis is relevant, timely and meaningful for our students and that they have the latest skills, we have created a cutting edge “Digital Medial Marketing” Advisory Board with some of the biggest influencers in the Digital and Social Media space here in St. Louis hailing from companies such as Purina, Maritz, FleishmanHillard, Brown Shoe, Lockerdome and Perficient. Over 30 members in total reside on our board.
Angela LaRocca the UMSL Marketing Advisory Board Chair has a well-rounded background which includes 10+ years of performing, screenwriting, event production, digital marketing, and brand management.
Nick Szabo is the COO of Swizzle. A Seoul and St. Louis based company that uses AI to analyze customer feedback for companies around the world. Nick, an UMSL alum, has spoken around the world on the future of AI in regards to marketing and customer experience, and now operates Swizzle out of St Louis.
Brianna Smith is a Digital and Social Media Marketing Strategist specializing in creating and implementing inbound marketing strategies for small and large companies. She currently serves as the Integrated Marketing Manager at TeraRecon, the largest independent provider and a global leader in advanced image processing innovation for CT, MR and PET; where she develops cross-departmental digital marketing strategies to nurture and grow TeraRecon's global customer base.
Pamela is the lead recruiter with Creatives On Call and has been with the company since 2011. She works specifically with candidates to introduce them to new career opportunities, and shares insight with them based upon what employers in the industry are most interested in. She spends a great deal of time getting to know the creative talent in the industry so she can understand their skill set and passions in order to better connect them with new career opportunities. Prior to joining the Creatives On Call team, she was in the advertising agency setting in St. Louis for six years as an Account Executive, working closely with creatives and clients.

Caryn is a writer, editor, and storyteller for all kinds of media. She’s spent the majority of her career at the corporate level, with a deep passion for digital media. So much so, it was the main area of focus for her thesis while finishing her master’s degree in Mass Communications.

Craig has been with Mastercard for nearly 14 years and has served in a number of roles across their technology and business divisions. For the last several years, he has been leading their digital marketing efforts focused on consumer centricity and creating connected consumer experiences across digital channels to deliver on MasterCard's brand promise. He focuses heavily on marketing data strategy working to balance personalization and privacy.
Rick Spiekermann is Nestle´ Purina’s Director of Content, Community Management & Partnerships. He leads a team focused on Purina’s efforts in social and digital content in collaboration with brand teams. Over the last 2 years, he has built a multifunctional team and partner network that has proven brand/business objectives can be achieved with content.
Ed Reggi is an award winning actor, director, comedian and producer. When Reggi is not making people laugh, he's uses improv to coach corporate executives. Ed Reggi is a lifelong storyteller--who has the stories to prove it. Before leaving the Big Apple to join midwest living, he worked as a professional improvisational actor in New York City, Chicago and LA.
Bob is a principal and founder of Digital Intersection, a marketing communications company focused on providing clients with a variety of highly measurable solutions that yield a positive return on investment. Bob has more than 20 years of experience serving as a marketing professional. He possesses a unique skill set of understanding technology and its application within a sales and marketing environment and how to integrate the database to achieve the desired business objectives.
An UMSL alum and St. Louis native, Jill Davis is a marketing professional with over 10 years’ experience in both B2C and B2B marketing. She currently serves as the marketing manager at HOK helping to position the St. Louis office of the global architecture firm to win projects that shape city skylines across the country and around the world.
Sarah Dalton currently leads Nolan & Associates' digital marketing efforts including campaign management, the website, branding and social media. She is passionate about communicating with clients in order to determine how we can best achieve their business goals.
Justin serves as public relations director at Spire Inc. In this role, Justin leads a team responsible for external and internal communications targeted for the employees, customers and communities of Spire, including all subsidiaries and business units.
Spenser Schmitt is an UMSL Alumn and Director of Business Development at SealGuard. SealGuard is commercial polished concrete and floor coatings company based out of St. Louis. Spenser oversees the lead generation of national and local general contractors, architects and property developers through various facets of both Marketing and Sales.
Kelly is the Director of Marketing for Bonfyre, a workplace culture technology company located in her native St. Louis. She has experience in strategy, execution, and analyzing marketing efforts for B2B tech companies, with a particular focus on content marketing and thought leadership.
With more than 18 years of agency experience, Steve Bauer is a global lead for Fleishman Hillard's Social & Innovation practice group and oversees the firm's "Social Art" tribe. Steve's areas of expertise include integrated marketing, social strategy and social business, executive social media, content marketing, online community management, employee advocacy and issues/crisis management.
Lisa Grim is the Vice President at PowerPost, a St. Louis based innovative agency transforming marketing through an online software that automates content distribution and transforms brands into power publishers.
Tyler Kelley is Co-Founder & Chief Strategist at SLAM! Agency, a full-service new media agency that helps brands realize and reach their highest potential. With 17 years in the results-driven marketing space, Tyler has earned a reputation for anticipating user trends and developing proactive strategies to drive brands forward.
Maggie Siemer is the Executive Director of the St. Louis Track Club, a local nonprofit that encourages running, walking, and fitness for persons of all ages and abilities. She has several years of nonprofit experience working on everything from accounting to marketing. Maggie is a St. Louis native and UMSL alum.
Vernon is the author, speaker, podcaster and digital strategist. Vernon serves as a professor at the University Missouri St. Louis, teaching master degree level students about podcasting for the School of Business. In Addition, he chairs the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference Board. This board is responsible for driving the direction of the digital marketing program at the University.
Matthew Coble is CEO of G Inc., a digital innovation agency based in St. Louis that helps startups grow their businesses, works with corporate clients on new product development and innovation initiatives, and pursues internal startup ideas of their own.
Wes Morgan is a marketing communications specialist whose career has included account management and business development positions in full service advertising agencies and marketing communications leadership roles in corporate environments from construction to hard goods. He has degrees from the University of Miami (FL) - a BA double major in Art and English (more specifically Graphic Design and Creative Writing) and an MBA (emphasis in Marketing). He expects to complete a Master of Arts degree in Education in 2018 (concentration in special education) at Fontbonne University in Saint Louis. He is a paraprofessional for the Special School District in Saint Louis.
Melissa Hamilton leads Momentum’s Midwest integrated production team. In the past 15 years of her career, she's help lead a number of award winning projects including Coca-Cola's Share a Coke experiential, Nabisco's 1D VIP program and application, Buffalo Wild Wings' Big Shot and Big Kick promotion and app, PG&E's Energy House Calls reality show, and Small Business Stories for The Hartford.
